Congratulations to Westlake senior Ariana Rich and Westlake Italian teacher Rosanna Caringi for earning special recognition as one of the Outstanding Students and Teachers of the Italian Language in Westchester County at a ceremony on Monday, October 16, 2017.  Each year, the Westchester County Board of Legislature awards individual merit certificates to one outstanding Italian language student from each legislative district throughout Westchester county during  Italian American Heritage & Culture Month.   In addition to a certificate of recognition, Ariana received a $250 scholarship award from Mr. Carmines International Hair Salon in Yonkers, NY.    Ariana is currently taking Italian 5 and has maintained a grade of 102 for the past 3 years, always going above and beyond in her lessons.  Her teacher, Mrs. Caringi, remarked "She truly distinguished herself with her passion and ability to lead others with such gentleness and humility.  I have seen her remarkable gifts continue to grow and flourish. I am honored to be able to be a mentor to such a wonderful young woman."
The Board of Legislatures also recognizes the hard work and dedication of the teachers who share their passion of the Italian culture and language with their students.  Mrs. Caringi, who has been teaching languages for 40 years and Italian at Westlake HS since 2005, was proud to receive one more honor in her distinguished career.  A few of her awards include the 2009 National Italian American Foundation Italian Teacher of the Year Award and the 2010 Mount Pleasant Italian American Association Distinguished Achievement Award.  She has a passion for young people because it is her way of investing in the world's future.  It's clear that teaching is her passion:  "This work is my life's mission and my reward is their success."
Congratulazioni ad entrambi!
