Senior Joelle El Hamouche won 1st place in the poster competition for her biomedical project "Tools to Fight Antibiotic Resistance? The Analysis of Genomic Elements in Multidrug-Resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa." Joelle conducted her original research at New York Medical College.
     Senior Charles Panzarella won grand prize in his category in the speaker competition and will be a NATIONAL JSHS finalist, the first in Westlake history! He conducted his original biomedical project "Identifying the Optimal Attention Span Threshold for Optokinetic Vision Testing of Non-Communicative Trauma Patients" at Burke Rehabilitation & Research, and Blythedale Children's Hospital. In May, Charles will be competing in the poster competition at the National JSHS in Maryland.
     Joelle and Charles were among 50 students from 19 schools who were the finalists from over 500 other science research students who competed in regional JSHS competitions.
