WHS senior Gianna Zurlo has earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs by receiving the National Hispanic Recognition Award.
The work on our turf field and athletic facilities on the Westlake Campus is progressing well and we are looking forward to it being completed. It is now time to plan for the next 3-5 years. We are specifically planning improvements to our schools that are focused on both safety and security as well as to the instructional program. Our work will also address the space constraints that currently exist at Hawthorne Elementary School. Just like the field bond, this proposed project will be structured to be tax neutral, thus having no additional impact on our residents' taxes.
It was a day of learning, team building, making connections, and of course the famous bus tour of the district!

At the Board of Education Meeting on August 16, Dr. Peter Giarizzo, Superintendent recommended to the Board of Education that Erica Denman be appointed as the new Assistant Principal at Hawthorne and Columbus Elementary Schools, effective August 29, 2023.
We have an update on a #wildcatpride story we covered earlier this year! A Mount Pleasant 3rd grader's Poppy Poster Contest submission that won locally was selected by the American Legion Auxiliary Department at the New York State level to move on to its NATIONAL Poster Contest!
During the summer, the Mount Pleasant Police Department used Hawthorne Elementary School to conduct defensive tactics trainings.
