Parents, community members, and WHS staff packed the Whearty Theater to celebrate some of our most outstanding members of the WHS Class of 2025 and WHS Principal Keith Schenker, Assistant Principal Dan Brady, and Coordinator of Counseling Nick DiPaolo emceed the evening.
Mr. Schenker opened the ceremony by reflecting on the purpose of the evening: “The purpose of tonight is to gather the class of 2025 together to begin to bring closure to an incredible journey.” He highlighted the remarkable achievements of this graduating class, noting their submission of over 1,100 applications to colleges and universities across 34 states and countries, and how Westlake has made its mark on the map for athletics, science research, the arts, and the trades.
“There is much to be proud of!” Mr. Schenker continued. He shared a quote by T.S. Eliot: “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one will go.” He then returned to a favorite quote he had welcomed the class with years earlier, by Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right” - emphasizing how mindset impacts achieving goals.
Mr. Schenker concluded his remarks by joking that since he too is “graduating” this year, he was tempted to say they are best class ever at Westlake, but he didn’t want that sentiment getting back to the juniors!
