JT Nichols Receives 2026 Aimee Chu Hung Braun Travel/Study Grant

The 2026 Aimee Chu Hung Braun Travel/Study Grant was presented to JT Nichols during Westlake High School’s National Honor Society Induction Ceremony, recognizing a student who exemplifies the values of character, leadership, and service.

Each year at the NHS induction, Drs. Carl and Norma Braun (who were joined this year joined by their son, Dr. Eric Braun, also a WHS graduate!) present this meaningful award in memory of their daughter, Aimee Chu Hung Braun. For more than 25 years, the $1,000 Travel/Study Scholarship has honored Aimee’s loyal and generous spirit, her devotion to others, and her enthusiasm for life. The award recognizes students who reflect those same qualities through sustained service and commitment to their communities.

This year’s recipient, JT Nichols, embodies the spirit of the Aimee Braun Award through his resilience, generosity, and dedication to helping others. JT has contributed more than 350 hours of service across a wide range of organizations, including the Town of Mount Pleasant Chamber of CommerceHoly Rosary Church, the Sons of the American Legion, and, in particular, the Civil Air Patrol.

Through these experiences, JT has taken on meaningful responsibilities, including event setup and vendor support, serving as a catechist’s aide for elementary students, and participating in rigorous leadership, STEM, and aviation-focused training through the Civil Air Patrol and NASA-affiliated activities. His service reflects a strong work ethic, reliability, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact.

JT’s commitment extends beyond meeting service requirements. He approaches each role with integrity, purpose, and a willingness to lead, consistently demonstrating the values that underpin the National Honor Society. His dedication to peers and community organizations makes him a fitting and deserving recipient of this award.

Congratulations to JT Nichols on this well-earned honor, and sincere thanks to Drs. Carl and Norma Braun for their continued generosity and for preserving Aimee’s legacy through this enduring and meaningful scholarship.
