Senior Keishanne Bernal Wins 2nd Place at JSHS
A Westlake Science Research senior won a top award at the 39th Annual Upstate New York Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) at University at Albany! The state’s top 43 Speaker Presenters who competed were finalists from among 250+ regional science researchers at sub-regional fairs across the state earlier in January.
Senior Keishanne Bernal won 2nd Place in the category Biomedical Sciences as a regional speaker for a slide presentation of her original research “Using Predictive Modeling to Identify Small Molecule Inhibitors for BPLF1 and Evaluating their Efficacy through Epstein-Barr Virus Infectivity Assays.”
Keishanne conducted her original research at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY.
WHS Science Research advisor Lawrence McIntyre shared the good news this weekend and said, “Please join me in congratulating Keishanne for her outstanding achievement as the 2nd best biomedical scientist in the state!"
