Westlake Spanish National Honor Society Faculty advisor Maria Mittelmann kicked off our first honor society induction of the school year with this heartfelt quote, “To speak another language is to give voice to our experience.” Then Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica leadership Camila Gomez, Elise Hurdis, Christa Pomilla, Ava Raguso, Daniel Castellano, and Savannah Park welcomed families, friends, faculty members and guests and gave an overview of the society and the membership requirements as well as leading the induction oath.
Congratulations to this year’s 36 new members of Spanish Honor Society, Lazarilo de Tormes: Laney Avezzano, Klea Blaka, Christopher Chae, Maeve Coyne, GianMarco DelDuca, Finian Dempsey, Bridget Doherty, Jaiden Dominguez, Josue Fernandez, Karen Fernandez, Lucas Finkel, Brady Fitzgerald, Lindsay Fox, Bryan Guerra, Nareh Hovsepyan, Jillian Lyden, Charlotte Malone, Cara Maloney, Winnie Mao, Chloe McKeon, Dayany Mendoza, Matthew Montuschi, Sofia Mora, Alexander Morales, Thomas Morrone, Rameses Murillo, Ethan Orrego, Cecilia Park, Amelia Pintavalle, Brooklynn Shaw, Serena Shim, Andrew Szeszko, Jonathan Thomas, Jozsef Varadi, Emma Villa, and Fiona Zaimi.
Being a member of the Spanish Honor Society is a privilege given only to those members who have shown their dedication to the Spanish language through academic excellence and pursuit of extra opportunities to use the language. This honor society offers an advanced level of activities and companionship to those who enjoy the language and culture.
