Varsity Awards 2025
WHS celebrated an unprecedented year of athletic and academic success at their Varsity Awards Night, recognizing student-athletes who dominated both on the field and in the classroom.
Here’s the folder with ALL the photos from the Varsity Awards Ceremony.
The evening showcased remarkable achievements across all seasons: an undefeated football team that captured the league championship, a cheerleading squad that placed 2nd in Section 1 and 7th nationally, and basketball programs that both earned league titles with the girls advancing to the Section 1 Final Four.
Winter brought even more success with wrestling capturing the Section 1 dual meet championship at their home gym, while girls ice hockey repeated as Section 1 champions. Spring saw all varsity programs qualify for post-season play, with lacrosse teams hosting playoff victories and track and field athletes breaking records throughout the season.
“This past year has been nothing short of inspiring. Our student-athletes have shown what it means to compete with integrity, to lead with humility, and to represent Westlake with pride,” said Athletic Director Dave Kantrowitz during the ceremony.
Perhaps most impressive was Westlake’s designation as a “School of Distinction” – an honor reserved for districts where ALL varsity programs maintain a team GPA above 90%. With 26 varsity teams achieving this academic standard, Westlake joins an elite group statewide.
The celebration honored individual achievements including All-League, All-Section, All-State, and All-American recipients, while also recognizing Scholar Athletes, Coach’s Award winners, and MVPs from each program.
Nine dedicated three-sport athletes were specially recognized for their exceptional commitment across multiple seasons: Ella Savino (Girls Soccer, Indoor Track, Girls Flag Football), Tyler Masiello (Cross Country, Indoor Track, Track and Field), Cole Barnett (Football, Boys Basketball, Boys Lacrosse), Logan Schwan (Boys Soccer, Indoor Track, Track and Field), Alexa DiSalvo (Girls Soccer, Indoor Track, Track and Field), Soho Ruggiero (Girls Soccer, Indoor Track, Track and Field), Daniel Castellano (Boys Soccer, Indoor Track, Track and Field), Brayden Lingeza (Football, Boys Basketball, Boys Lacrosse), and Ryan Pisacano (Cross Country, Indoor Track, Track and Field).
Finally we congratulated once again our 12 seniors who celebrated their NCAA commitments, capping off a night that showcased the true meaning of student-athlete excellence at Westlake High School.
