Italian Honor Society 2021

On April 13, 2021, 21 new members were inducted into La Società Onoraria Italica, Sezione Francesco Redi (Italian Honor Society, Francesco Redi Chapter). The goals of the Italian Honor Society are to give recognition to students who have achieved excellence in Italian studies as well as to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of Italian culture and civilization. In order to qualify for membership, the students must have completed two full years of Italian with a grade of 90% or better and be signed up to continue with the Level 4 Italian course. Additionally, they must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 85%.

This year’s ceremony was held virtually for students. Welcoming remarks were presented by Dr. Kotes, Dr. Bronstein, Mr. Schenker and Mrs. Bellomusto. Italian Honor Society officers and members gave a chapter greeting and explained the significance of being inducted into the Society. The new inductees were given a certificate and medal, asked to sign their name to the official IHS register and light a candle to signify the promise to carry forth a love of language and culture through multicultural understanding. The inductees gave their acceptance speeches in Italian and also recited the official oath, promising to dedicate themselves to the study of the Italian language. Auguri a tutti i nuovi soci!
