Senior Car Parade
On June 1, the senior class was honored with a surprise parade. The students were told to decorate their cars and to show up at the Holy Rosary parking lot for a car decorating contest. What they didn't know was that many people had been working behind the scenes to set up an unforgettable event for them. WHS Principal Keith Schenker, along with many helpers, managed to coordinate volunteers from the local police, fire department, FBI and County police to lead the students on a parade through town. The stops took them past Hawthorne Elementary, Columbus Elementary and finally to the Westlake campus. At each location, they were greeted by their old teachers and many well-wishers. While the event couldn't replace all the missed events from the spring, it certainly went a long way toward lifting the spirits of all those in attendance.
